about me

My debut memoir, Mean Boys: A Personal History (Bloomsbury, 2024), was called “arresting” by Vanity Fair and praised by Torrey Peters as having "so well described the 'feeling' of the Millennial era." The Washington Post wrote, “I was blown away.” It was listed as an NPR Books We Love in 2024.

My personal essays have appeared in The New Yorker, The Paris Review, The Guardian, The Nation, Highsnobiety, and elsewhere. My criticism and arts coverage, for the past thirteen years, have appeared regularly in Artforum, Frieze, PioneerWorks Broadcast, and Spike, where I served as an editor.

I am co-editor, with Zoë Beery and McKenzie Wark, of the anthology Writing on Raving (OR Books, 2025), which grew out of our reading and performance series of the same name. My novel Total Depravity will be published this year on Dirt Books.
